If you enjoyed Ziggy in Xenosaga, whether it be his character or his story, you may find yourself enjoying these characters as well. These are characters from other games, movies, and books that I've found to resemble Ziggy in many ways. I've also included a few real-life people who resemble him as well.
Video Games
Cyan Garamonde Final Fantasy VI
I think out of any character from a video game that I've played, Cyan and Ziggy
have an a lot in common. Both of them loose their wife and son because of a
psychotic killer. Of course, only one of them decides to wear a clown getup. I suppose a generic cloak is more ominous. Both of these characters have a certain symbolism behind them, they both seem to herald from different times. Ziggy doesn't speak in old english though, but he is also taunted at times by Jr, sort of how Gau calls Cyan "Mr Thou." Both characters also have a very hidden sensitive side, and a soft spot for widowed women. I think that if Ziggy and Cyan were to ever meet, they would get along very well. That is, however, after Cyan has a nervous breakdown because of Ziggy's machinery.
Basch Fon Ronsenburg Final Fantasy XII
Basch and Ziggy share very similar personalities. They have both went through hell, and are both subjects to numerous amounts of abuse throughout the course of the game, including character design mishaps involving thong underwear. Both characters are quite loyal and protective of others. I sort of see the relationship between Basch and Penelo in the same way as Ziggy and MOMO, in that they both protect and look after them in a fatherly sort of manner. Beyond that, both are subject to bouts of self-loathing and hatred for failing what is most important to them. Both characters live to serve others, despite their personal feelings. Basch serves Landis, Dalmasca, and then Larsa. Ziggy, while human, was determined to serve the people. However, he learned that it's more important to serve those important to him first. In the end, Basch ends up fulfilling his brother's wish to protect Larsa by becoming Gabranth. In a somewhat similar manner, Ziggy looks after Juli and MOMO as Jr's last wish to him before parting ways.
