Biography

Although I go by the screen name Rin online these days, my real name is Bobbi. I'm a twenty-six year old art student at Art Institute. I am majoring in animation, with a specific interest in video game design for computers, consoles, and web applications. It may seem a little strange to some people that I am in college now at this age. Well, I'm one of those people who really needed time to figure out what they wanted to do with their life. After working several off and on retail jobs, and barely making enough, I decided it was time to return to college and follow my childhood dream of being an animator. Beyond artwork, I also really enjoy webdesign, writing, and comics. Although I was never really into comics as a child, I recently became facinated with the process of creating them. I don't really want to "make it" as a comic artist. I just really enjoy using it as a medium to tell stories visually. I do them for the personal fun and enjoyment, in hopes that others will enjoy them just as much as I do creating them.

My inspirations throughout the years have been Walt Disney and Don Bluth. If anyone really knew me from my childhood years, they would probably laugh. In fact, I was really obsessed with anything those animation studios produced. To this day, I still enjoy looking back on those films. Since my high school graduation, I had become interested in many eastern forms of pop culture, namely anime, video games, and manga. Although I'm leaning away from drawing in these types of styles now, as a more serious artist, the influence is still present in my work. That may be something I'll want to keep in the future, but that really depends on my personal growth, and the market in general.

Webdesign History

I first started making webpages in 1998 at the age of 16. My first site was a personal one, created using one of AOL's generators at that time. I forget what it was exactly. I didn't have any pictures on it, just drawings I made in MS Paint. I also tried to create a website for a teenybopper E-Zine that I had on AOL back in the day. But my parents decided that they didn't want to pay for the internet service anymore. So I was without the vast series of tubes for a year. In 1999, I came back to the internet, and quickly decided to make another website. It was on gurlpages.com, and was full of rainbow colors, Britney Spears midis on autostart, animated gifs, and lots of stupid crap. I called my site "Bobbi's World". I really began to learn HTML at this point.

Dissatisfied with gurlpages, and wanting to jump on the bandwagon, I moved to Geocities, then Envy.nu, which were all the rage in 2000. I kept the site untill 2001, when I opened my first domain, sweet-essence.net. It was a pretty popular site and it stuck around until 2003. Also, in July of 2001, I purchased this domain, to use as a personal site and art gallery, because sweet-essence became more trendy, and I felt it lost it's personal feel to it. After I lost sweet-eseence, I bought Overload.nu, and moved everything I had on december-rain and sweet-essence into one place. I turned this domain into an art and cosplay site. Then, in 2005, I pretty much vanished from the internet, except for a small personal site hosted by a friend. At the end of 2005, I decided to start over again, and began putting more and more content onto december-rain. In 2006, this site began gathering up lots of fanlistings, shrines and lots of other projects. In 2007 though, I became very busy and focused on school, my comic project, (which surprisingly I don't have much to show for it, at the time of writing this), and I also became too preoccupied with Gaia. So, I ended up losing a good deal of my fanlistings, and many of my projects went on haitus. Now, December-Rain exists as an art portfolio site, as well as a place to house my other projects, since I don't have the heart to give them up or delete them.
