Allen was born in T.C. 4743, but his birthplace is never mentioned in the first two games. Infact, he doesn't tell us anything about his past. Everything between the year he was born and before joining Vector is kept secret from the others in the party. Allen joined Vector's First R&D Division and was placed on the KOS-MOS development project under then Chief Engineer Kevin Winnicot and Junior Chief Engineer Shion Uzuki. He survived along with Shion when the KOS-MOS prototype went beserk and killed almost everyone. After that, he was promoted to Junior Cheif Engineer and worked alongside Shion to reconstruct KOS-MOS.
Allen tends to be very nervous and anxious most of the time. This is usually because he is always very worried about Shion. He also has had a long history of not fitting in well with others. He goes unnoticed by his co-workers and others during much of the game. Miyuki, Shion's friend, didn't even know that he was missing from the Woglinde and had been along with Shion the entire time.
Allen is an important character in the series, however, he usually stays in the background and allows the others to fight and do the dirty work. He does however, use a rifle to fight the gnosis in the first game, and he becomes a temporary playable character in the third.
Allen is also the most normal main character in the series, at least from the surface level. However, there are little clues left here and there which say otherwise.
